w/ the sound on for pure nostalgia!
Picture this. It's the year 2000 and the 5th season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is live on the air. The internet is a place in a room with a chair on the family computer. It's not an omnipresent app on your phone. Your family just bought and downloaded AOL off a disc. Nobody needs to use the house phone so you boot up the internet and wait patiently through the dial up screeching sound you didn't realize you'd someday miss. "Welcome, you've got mail!" You spend hours in Buffy chat rooms and browsing uniquely coded websites, maybe you write in your livejournal or tend to your neopets. You're definitely gonna visit your favorite dollz site to make cute pixel versions of you and your friends.
It might not be on a disc but it can still be a place you GO. We don't need to obey the algorithm gods. We can just make cool websites and find each other. I got my start building Buffy fansites on Geocities & Angel Fire. What I loved is that you sought out your communities and that people found you organically. There was no influence, only inspiration. That's what I hope to inspire here at witchmuse.com. Part grimoire and digital altar, part diary, part archive, part chaos. What I believe the internet should be. And now you're reading this so we have the community/coven part!
